Find the affected products

Open product status and needs-attention information. Note which products are affected and whether the issue is isolated or widespread.

Read the specific issue

Use the issue details to identify the field, website detail or account setting that needs review. Compare the product data with the live page.

  • Price mismatch: compare the exact variant and currency, then check whether a sale price or a stale update explains the difference.
  • Availability mismatch: check the stock source and the live purchase option, including the selected size or colour.
  • Identifier issue: confirm the manufacturer’s values; do not guess a replacement.

These are starting checks, not a diagnosis of every issue. Follow the message for the affected product, country and marketing method.

Fix the source, then recheck

Correct the underlying store or product source, allow the update to process and review status again. Keep a record of changes and dates.

After correcting the cause, check the issue’s instructions for whether processing alone is sufficient or a review must be requested. Product errors and account policy restrictions need different responses. Use Google’s data-quality disapproval guidance; do not assume repeated resubmission will resolve an account restriction.

Build a manageable routine

Use weekly and monthly reviews to catch new issues as stock, price and products change. The workbook includes issue logs and follow-up trackers.

Worked example: investigate before editing

Suppose several products are marked as needing attention because the submitted availability differs from the store. Identify the affected product IDs and compare each store page with the product data source. If the store is correct but the source is stale, update the source and check when it last refreshed. If the store itself is wrong, fix that first. Do not hide a genuine issue by repeatedly changing the submitted value alone.

Record the issue name, affected products, source of the mismatch, action and date of the next check. A warning and a disapproval may have different consequences; read the exact message in your account. Google’s Needs attention guidance explains the current interface.

Use the product data checklist to prevent the same mismatch recurring.
